Workshop Duration: 2 months (a 3-hour meeting weekly) / Suggested Period: January-February
Workshop Description:
The workshop will explore the innovative practices of the last two decades, in which digital technology was introduced and established in the field of performing arts. During the two months of the workshop, the participants will, in practice and theoretically, interact with digital media as a basic synthesis tool both in dramatic (digital theatre) and scenographic (digital scenography) level.
Timetable:
January
1st Week: Digital performances that combine computational graphics, 3D images and cinematic techniques. Introduction to projection mapping.
2nd Week: Augmented reality performances. Introduction to motion tracking.
3rd Week: Performances using "artificial performers" or "virtual characters". Practical experimentation.
4th Week: Performances that connect different theatrical scenes (sometimes real or digital ones). Introduction to live streaming, video techniques.

February
1st Week: Off-stage projects that allow interaction with the viewer. Introduction to microcontrollers.
2nd Week: Walking digital performances. Practical experimentation.
3rd Week: Transmedia performances. Introduction to online performative tools.
4th Week: Activism. Practical experimentation.

The workshop is addressed to (students and / or professionals) artists, architects, theatrologists, stage designers, costumers, decorators, actors, dancers, musicians e.t.c. Good use of the English language and computers is required to attend the workshop. Students will need to have a laptop at all meetings.
