Presentation:
Performing Space is a project that aims to explore the relationship between performance and the built environment from all disciplines that study human activity. The project is articulated around an annual international conference where academics and practitioners can present their work on performance and space, and a series of parallel workshops where different methods of approaching space and performance can be put into practice. In this presentation we will analyse these relationships between performance and the built environment, taking as an example the tendencies of the works exhibited in the first three editions of Performing Space.

LSA Lecture:
“Creating Encounters with the Unknown:
A Scenographic Research through Space and Digital Media”
with Scenographer and Visual Artist Pedro Sanchez Carbajo*
In this lecture, Pedro Sanchez Carbajo will offer his view on the process of making performative works, using the space as the starting point through which to present different realities. To do it, he will present and explore themes such as the understanding of reality and the virtual from a broader perspective, reading and working with spaces, playing with perception, understanding the artistic research as a process, composing experiences through narratives, and the importance exploring and questioning the role of the spectator.
** Pedro Sanchez Carbajo is a multidisciplinary artist and designer researching the boundaries between theatre, film, installation and scenography with an interest for experiential art. His works are often presented as site-specific interventions (from video-walks to multimedia installations) that seek to acknowledge and activate the spectator through their senses, feelings and emotions.
